The animals are vanishing due to rapid development of their habitat and associated urban threats, including motor vehicles. The $996 grant will be used by QRWA to install turtle crossing signs during nesting season (late May-early June) at sites previously identified by volunteers under a grant from National Fish and Wildlife Foundation. David Weinberg of Northeast Utilities Environmental Community Grant Program presented the award to QRWA at the Wieloch home. Pictured are Julie, Jacob and Sarah Wieloch, Cheshire volunteers who live at a crossing site located at 1420 Cheshire Street, Deb Mason, "circuit rider" for the turtle project, executive director Mary Mushinsky and president, Ginny Chirsky.
