Speakers

Interesting and thought-provoking speakers to educate and entertain…

·         Jim Sirch, education coordinator at the Peabody Museum of Natural History, will offer his popular visual presentation, “Filling Your Garden With Colorful Butterflies,” discussing the importance of butterflies in the garden, how to identify local species and information on which plants offer the best sources of food for butterflies.

·         Connecticut Agricultural Experiment Station Entomologist Katherine Dugas will give a tour of the QRWA Butterfly and Bee Garden, offering in-field insect identification, and an overview of beneficial and detrimental species.

·         Kathy Olson, better known as “The Bee Lady,” will present bee-related materials and interact with audience members on the industrious honeybee. Olson’s entertaining program gives audience members a look at the lives of bees and an understanding of how bees interact with each other, their environment and, most of all, people.
